Iñaki Ruiz de Pinedo

Iñaki Ruiz de Pinedo is a Spanish sociologist and politician with a Basque independence ideology. Professor of sociology at the University of the Basque Country, he was one of the founders of the HASI party in 1977, which joined Herri Batasuna (HB) in 1978. He was a Basque parliamentarian for Álava between 1980 and 1994, and spokesperson for HB in Parliament Basque between 1987 and 1994. After leaving the National Board of HB in 1996 due to disagreements, he returned to politics with Euskal Herritarrok (EH) in 1998. He was a councilor in Vitoria in 1999 and resigned in 2000 due to disagreements with the EH line. He returned to politics in 2019 as a representative of Euskal Herria Bildu for Álava in Congress.
