Joan Parés Grahit

Joan Parés Grahit. Born in Barcelona in 1947. Graduated in Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1974. My personal/professional experience related to the paper that I will present lies in the fact that I have been a doctor, I am retired and I collaborate with the CATFAC (Catalonia Federation of Cannabis Associations), currently three times a week, conducting visits to people interested in obtaining cannabis for medical purposes or to ludic associates who want to make inquiries related to the use of the plant, as well as giving talks in the associations of consumers.

I have been doing it for about five years, firstly in La Maca (Cannabis Association Movement for Self Consumption), from Barcelona, and then in the Therapeutic Group of the CATFAC.

The intervention will consist of exposing, on the one hand, the methodology of the work and the documentation that we gather and, on the other hand, we will present the statistics that we have from the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 in relation to the petitions made by sick people who requested a reliable source of marijuana. The pathologies that we accept are: nausea and vomiting, chronic pain, glaucoma, autoimmune diseases, anorexia and cachexia caused by chronic diseases and some neuromuscular illnesses.

People who document their pathology and accept their responsibility for the treatment of their condition receive the basic information to begin the treatment and a medical certificate where it is stated that the person is a consumer of cannabis for medical purposes.
