The Nationwide Network of Anti-Prohibitionist Women (Red Estatal de Mujeres Antiprohibicionistas, REMA) sets out new challenges for the movement and for itself. This talk will present the projects that make up the Network and open up debates within the framework of current drug policies, placing the concepts of activism, cross-cutting approaches, anti-prohibitionism and feminism at the centre.

The Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum manages and exhibits a unique collection of more than 12,000 objects related to every aspect of the cannabis plant. The collection is displayed at two venues: a canal house in the centre of Amsterdam and a Modernista palace in Barcelona.

What innovations can we expect from the contemporary hemp industry? Two experts, Eelkje van Oldenburger (executive adviser at HempFlax, the pioneering hemp-growing company in the Netherlands and Romania) and Vaniek Colenbrander (founder and owner of Van.Eko, the company behind the first hemp electric motorbike), outline the future possibilities of one of the oldest agricultural crops on earth. Ana Rodríguez, manager of the Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum in Barcelona, moderates the discussion.

“The German cannabis market”
In spring 2017, Germany liberalised its medical marijuana policies. As the number of patients in Germany increases, so does the demand for cannabis. German-licensed domestic producers have gone through the application process, but have not yet been given the go-ahead to operate. At present, all cannabis in Germany is being imported from Canada and the Netherlands; however, other countries such as Australia and Israel are competing for a share of the market as they seek to start exporting worldwide. Michael Knodt will guide you through an overview of the booming German cannabis industry.

In this presentation we will address the history of activism from the standpoint represented by ConFAC, analyse the most recent case law on cannabis social clubs, focusing especially on the case of the Pannagh association, and set out, through the lens of fundamental rights, what is at stake for us in the future comprehensive regulation of cannabis.

The Spanish Medical Cannabis Observatory (Observatorio Español de Cannabis Medicinal, OECM) was founded in October 2015 out of the need to promote, coordinate and carry out activities and projects aimed at furthering knowledge of the medicinal properties and uses of cannabis and its derivatives. It also seeks to advise public and private bodies and to inform institutions, the media and civil society about current knowledge on cannabis, based on the results of scientific studies and clinical trials.

Being able to analyse cannabis is one of the most useful advances that the development of our industry has brought with it. These analyses make it possible to treat an ailment in a controlled way, to guide breeding work with better judgement or to prevent possible poisoning by contaminants. Cannabis is currently more potent than ever; in fact, there are varieties whose flowers reach 30% THC. The accuracy of these data, the advantages and dangers this trend may entail for patients and users, and the legal consequences will be some of the issues developed in this session.

Since time immemorial, cannabis and other plants have been used to heal our bodies and our spirits. Shamans, healers, alchemists and doctors all over the world have used sacred plants as a therapeutic tool and as a gateway to other dimensions. In 2002 the World Health Organization recognised the importance of traditional and complementary medicines. Western science, for its part, is beginning to demonstrate their effectiveness.
